Ayade Job Festival and Entrepreneurship Summit 2019

In furtherance of his commitment and vision to create jobs and grow entrepreneurship in the state, the Cross River State Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade has unveiled the 1st Ayade Job Festival (Fair) and Entrepreneurship Summit in the State. Held at the prestigious state-of-the-art Calabar International Convention Centre (CICC) recently, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Job Placement and Entrepreneurship to the Governor, Mr. Joseph Edet stated that the Ayade Job Festival (Fair) And Entrepreneurship Summit was conceived to create a platform for stakeholders to engage towards unlocking the opportunities that abound in terms of job placement and entrepreneurship in the Cross River State for the benefit of its people. Stakeholders who graced the maiden event included job seekers, job providers, the organized private sector, the academia, policy makers including the legislature and the executive, the civil society and many others.

the Fair was expected to create the opportunity to leverage on the industrialization drive of the governor by placing youth in jobs while also providing grants for young entrepreneurs from across the state to start and grow micro, small and medium enterprises MSME. the program is poised to reduce unemployment, eradicate poverty, as well as address the issue of capacity and manpower development. Our team was able to confirm that over 500 Cross Riverians will get job placement, more than 100 people will get grants to start and grow their micro, small and medium enterprises, MSME, and over 100 entrepreneurs will be supported to register their businesses with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Among the post-event benefits are internship for 100 out-of-job youth, entrepreneurship development training for 100 young people, employ-ability training for 100 job seekers as well as creating a dependable database of unemployed citizens in the state where job opportunities locally, nationally and globally will be shared regularly. He concluded by saying all these opportunities could be accessed by visiting the website www.crsjobenterprise.org the Department has also availed applicants in the 18 local government areas in the state with forms in hard-copy. e event package included a plenary which featured presentations by a crack team of seasoned resource persons and subject experts, panel discussions, breakout as well as interactive question-and-answer sessions.
